Zoe’s Tale

Monday, July 14th, 2008

John Scalzi just added another book to the Old Man’s War saga. I’ll probably get it in about a month. I dipped back in to fantasy by rereading A Feast for Crows.
I finished Ender’s Game a few months back. Thanks for the recommendation Clew. I would say Ender’s Game ranks #2 on my list of [...]

Killing Rommel

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Steven Pressfield has a new book out. Killing Rommel, check out the video Clew. If its half as good as Gates of Fire, it’ll be awesome.

House Etc.

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

We closed (always be closing) on the house yesterday. I started packing up the miscellaneous items (books, clothes, etc.) around ye ol pleasure palace today. The plan is to move all that stuff in to the garage at the new house then move our furniture in next week.
Right now the new house is being painted. [...]

Ironman

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I saw Ironman last night with my old man. It was pretty awesome. I never read the comics so I don’t know how well the movie followed the actual comic story plot lines. The acting was really good whoever was in charge of casting deserves some serious work.
What surprised me was Jeff Bridges as the [...]

Amazon Told Me “Enough SciFi, You Need Game”

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

This is for realz. I ordered Titan by John Varney. Its in my confirmation email and even says Titan was delivered in my online recent purchases at Amazon. Nothing out of the ordinary there.
What is odd is that The Game - Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists by Neil Strauss was delivered instead. [...]

John Scalzi has another book coming out in August and will be the 4th book in the series that started with Old Man’s War. He is auctioning off an early release signed edition for charity.  Man up Clew and get your signed first edition.
I liked the first three books a lot and dream that one [...]

Cool Site For Free Audio Books

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

LibreVox.org is a community driven website that provides public domain books in an audio format. Right now, I’m listening to The Origin of Species that I downloaded in 64kps mp3 format. I’ve never read the entire book just skimmed or read required chapters. Kind of a nice resource.
Other books that caught my eye in their [...]

There is an interview on Dragonmount WOT blog. There is also a good discussion over at Slashdot. I hope he does the series ending book justice.

The Wheel Of Time Has Come To An End

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Robert Jordan passed away yesterday at 2:45pm. **Sigh** That is a heavy sigh not the sarcastic kind.  Also, you’ll find nothing funny or witty in this post. Dammit man, he fought amyloidosis and had an outlook to live for 4 years but succumbed before finishing his twelfth and final book to his fantasy series The [...]

Readings and Such

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I finally finished The Virtues of War a couple of days ago.  I didn’t think it was as good as The Gates of Fire but it was an OK read.  What helps is that era, for me at least, is fun to read about because they had to face so many challenges that don’t exist [...]
